I'm on a homework hotstreak. So why not keep sharing thoughts:
My response to a posted article about college student internet literacy:
College students are more independent and technology dependent than perhaps any other age group and will be even more as the years continue. It's easy to assume by professors that their students know how to use the internet as a resource correctly. Perhaps it's time for Universities to start implementing such basic interent literacy classes as required courses for their students. As well, it's also time for Universities to realize who their audience/customers are and the learning patterns of them. Frontlined, aired on NOVA, aired a documentary on this topic earlier this year. Watch the documentary here.
My response to a posted article about the librarian's role with internet awareness and literacy:
I agree that Librarians should be a part of the skill building process. Many librarians are also computer/technology teachers. Rather than seeing my students have an isolated class of computers with her, it would be ideal for me that she be working with teachers to push-in to the classroom and integrate her technology lesson based upon the topic being learned while showing the teacher skills they could be learning to apply to other topic areas.
