and exhale

Ahhh, summer. Did you exhale with that word too? This is my last summer as a full-force grad student so its sure to be filled with homework but some needed adventure and much needed time with friends.

I look forward to summer because its time for me to repair the creative mental space that's on a spinning wheel all year long. Sure, I think about lesson plans and dissect my curriculum, but its also a time to stroll through an art museum and wander through a park. Its these quiet times that seem to restore the creative juices best and uncover inspiration in the most obvious of places.

My summer is filled with classes, one mega-conference, self driven PD, PD facilitation and seeing my parents off to a new home. Sure, I approve of this new lifestyle they have chosen (retirement), but its bound to be a bit emotional. That's the other thing summer allows, time for emotion. The emotional let go it takes to relax, take a deep breath and plunge ourselves into something new. Again, its all about repair, rebuild, reflect and reconnecting with ourselves and others.

I hope this summer you find the time to rebuild your inspirations if they have faltered, repair the parts that have been put aside . May you also have hearty reconnections that lead to laughter and good conversation. All coming together into a summer's end reflection of what you have accomplished and nourished.

Ahhhh, summer.
