The sessions at GTI Dublin started with a very precious piece of advice, "Be in the moment". For someone who tends to put themselves in many moments at once, this was heard as more of a challenge. By the end of the first day I realized that I was so mentally intwined in the speakers and those present in the room that I had forgotten how far away from home I was sitting, how far I have traveled.
I am trying as hard as I can to internalize and absorb the last two days here at the Geo-Teachers Institute at Google in Dublin, Ireland. Perhaps the secret to achieving this is constantly bouncing off the endless resources, ideas and lessons that have been a part of these last two days. By placing all these resources into practice out in the world, to my students and colleagues, is the vehicle to keeping this new knowledge breathing, growing. My learning has only begun here, there are more lessons and questions to be asked as I revisit, teach and reflect upon these last two days.
The countless ideas that have been sparked by here will certainly lead to more of the same once I get home. Thank you to my students for their support of this trip during this time of the year; for knowing me well enough that this was a dream come true. Thank you to my administration for supporting the trip and all the questions and ideas I will have when I return home.
